Story Overview: Paranoia on an Isolated Island

Set in 1955 during Japan’s Showa Era, Ooe delivers a quintessential classic mystery setup: an isolated location, cut-off communications, and a group of suspects bound by dark secrets.

The Premise

The narrative takes place on the remote, fog-shrouded Ooe Island. Nine mourners gather at a secluded estate for the second anniversary memorial service of An Ooe, a famously mysterious actress whose tragic death still haunts those who knew her.

You play as Osaki, a sharp young detective dispatched to the island in place of his wealthy client, Shizuma Daiba. Upon arrival, Osaki discovers:

  • An ominous, abandoned fishing village surrounding the estate.

  • An absent host who failed to greet the guests.

  • A tension-filled room of nine mourners who harbor intense mutual distrust.

When a servant is brutally murdered shortly after the gathering begins, all escape routes are severed. Panic turns into full-blown paranoia as the nine guests—each hiding criminal pasts and hidden motives—realize a killer is actively hunting among them.

Secure your Nintendo Switch copy ahead of the December 24 launch to unravel the dark mysteries resting on Ooe Island.
